4 Stars Samsung NC10
Very, very nice netbook. My wife loves it. One problem which it, which apparently many people have (and I have too) is the wireless card. It is erratic and I have to restart and repair my wireless networks every so often. The problem I see with it is that if it is called a netbook, then why won’t it stay connected? One thing I did for problem was to apply all Microsoft updates and that seems to have cured the problem.

5 Stars Awesome little netbook
Perfect graduation gift. It comes with us everywhere we go. VERY compact, great picture quality, sound is better than expected based on reviews. Perfect for note taking in class, surfing on trips where WiFi is available, etc.

3 Stars Not that great for the price…
Our average is having 3-4 computers/laptops at a time because we need them for work. We have two old/1st generation macbooks (quite heavy) and needed something easy to carry around. We have a quite good knowledge about computers, read many reviews, and became fascinated about the NC-10, which is a kind of “mystery” computer that is not sold in electronics stores (at least around here).

The screen is the best but does not support full HD (as the HP), which is bad because we cannot connect it to our flat screen TV to watch movies from Netflix. The mouse pad is way to small!!! The keyboard is as hard as the mouse keys… Construction seems sturdy but it does not matter much because Amazon packing was a joke and is a miracle that the computer arrived working.

It seems that we have to pay 15% of restocking fee to return it then the solution is pray to God to make it worth $399 on a $329 worth netbook (same as the Accer).

5 Stars samsun NC10-14
I read all the other reviews before I bought and cannot say any more about it, except that all the 100+ reviews where right.Fantastic screen is on top of my list. Excellent, one limitation, but that not what I bought it for. I love to edit video and make slide shows. This is NOT the computer for that. The video card can’t keep up the show presentation. To many jumps, hesitations etc. But thats something I should have realized, since I spend top dollars to install a gamers video card on my home computer. Bottom line, the NC 10-14 is great.KAH

5 Stars Acer Aspire One is One GREAT Netbook!
I rejected the Netbook craze at first because I just didn’t realize how powerful they could be, considering their compact size. Plus, I was unemployed and rarely spent much time outside of my house so I just didn’t have a need for the portability.

Then my situation changed and I saw the light. I am a hardcore HP user so naturally, I started my research with HP netbooks. They were a big no go for me, both price-wise and spec-wise. I wanted a full-spec laptop in a 9″ case and the ones HP offered in that range were at a price point I’d expect for full size laptops. No thanks.

Then I tried a friend’s Acer and fell in love instantly! For less than the price of a full featured smartphone, I got a 160gb hard drive, high-speed processor, and 6 cell battery. It even came with a free mouse! Oh, and it came with XP installed so I didn’t even have to screw with Vista! How could I go wrong?

I also had $65 in Amazon gift cards so my total price, shipped to my door, was $214! Amazing! Awesome! Acer!!!

Acer Aspire One AOA150-1447 8.9-Inch Netbook (1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 Processor, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, XP Home, 6 Cell Battery) Sapphire Blue

On arrival from Amazon, the computer wouldn’t start up. I phoned Acer’s support service number and following several tries to get it started, I was told to ship it to Acer’s repair service in Texas where the software was reinstalled. In 10 days it was back and working. The cost of sending it DHL to Texas was the only minus point. Acer’s on-phone service and email confirmation has been excellent.

4 Stars Functional, small, light, long battery
The computer is very small (with the keyboard one would expect). The touchpad has some quirks (it likes to go into page scroll mode with little encouragement, I haven’t figured out how to turn that off yet). Otherwise, it’s what I wanted and paid for, at a good price too.

5 Stars Netbook
This purchase was for my daughter who is 11. She wanted something that was small enough where she can sit in her room on her bed and just browse without the bulk of a big computer. It is so light and she just loves it. It’s one of the best purchases I ever made.

5 Stars acer laptop
this product is real nice. the battery last long. The only thing i wish it had was cd rom but i use a thumb drive to compensate for that. All in all it is a very nice

5 Stars Wonderful Thunder
I bought this netbook for my wife. It is small. It is elegant. It delivers what it promises.

Looks

The look of the netbook is really great. I have seen some other netbooks and they all looked cheap. This one has a very clean finish and it easily compares to my main $1200 laptop.

Setup:

No problem with XP home setup. We were up and running in 15 mins. Absolutely no problem connecting to the internet, etc.

Noise:

Lots of ppl have complained about the noise. I just cannot believe we got the same model. No noise what so ever. After reading the reviews, I was a bit reluctant to place the order because of the noise thing. But this one is silent. (This might be because of my wife’s prayers too!)

NO CD drive:

This is not a problem. I successfully installed softwares by sharing the CD Drive over the network from my other laptop.

SD Card reader:

This computer has 2 flash memory card readers. I think this is a waste considering the harddisk already has 160 GB! Instead of the second card reader, they could have added a HDMI output!

Speaker / Mic / Webcam:

These built-in features are fantastic for skype. We bought the laptop for this main reason. My wife used to use external mic and external webcam with her previous laptop and it was a drag. This netbook has these things built in and so no cables and no extra space needed. Just wonderful!

Summary:

Just buy it. Dont waste time reading other reviews.

1 Star I own XP Version-is it possible to give a ZERO!!!!!
I got an acer aspire one xp with 120 Gb for christmas. i thought it was great at first-but dont be fooled. yes-it is small, light, and portable. BUT wait. here is the list of problems i have had in in only a 1/2 year with it.

1.Crashed and lost all my data twice! (because of this i had to ship it back to the factory!)

2.Webcam is now broken-says that cam is not pluged in to the system!?!?!?!

3.Almost every time i use internet through Wi-Fi it refuses to connect to any secured router anyware! even unsecure

4.gives be Blue Screen Of Death (Google it!!) at least once a week!

5.Batt. lasts only 1.5 hours!

6.Never accepts ethernet cable that works with other computers FINE

7. Touchpad is horrible!

8.Gets BURNING HOT on the underside-left after about 45-55 min of constant use!

9. WAYYY to many pre-installed apps!

10. When i sent it back the hard drive had 120 GB. The Acer people who “fixed” it sent it back with only 105!

BOTTOM LINE-THIS THING (with xp-i havent tested linux on it) IS HORRIBLE!!

BUY A MAC FOR GOD SAKE!

4 Stars The mini that it thinks it a laptop.
This mini, is handy little worker. I worried about being able to read the screen, I have no proble with it. It function well. It fits iinto 4″ deep breifcase leaving enough room to carry by work’s documentation. It use electronic drive no mechanical drives maybe this will mean no hard drive failures. The cover fits tight, ligth potection.

I use electronics pug-in drives like they are CD/DVD/Floppy drives.

Its draw back:

*It comes with a 110 power supply, it needs a DC adapter for the car. About half the time I use my car is my office.

*It comes with PJ-45 no phone line, it needs the adpater to PR–45 to have a USB to phone or PJ-45 to phone line.

Software manufactures need to put programs on electron drives.

Insure you back up inportant data, not foresure data is retreavable if hard drive dies.

Speaker is weak.

I think it needs a cooler.

For around $50 you can get a USB DVD/CD writer drive.

The * items is why I gave it a 4.

Needs a wrist/waist/suiside strap incase it wants to jump/fall to floor.

Heed a stand so I can use it like presentation portfolio.

5 Stars Nice computer
My husband uses this for work when he is on the road. I wouldn’t want a laptop this small for everyday use. Note it does not have a DVD drive, so if you need to install anti-virus you will need to download it another way. We went and bought one for 25.00 here at Amazon.

4 Stars mac books are for the birds
PROS:

built-in camera

3 usb ports

comes with xp (other models have linux)

disc-free restore is pervert fast

it’s under 3 c notes

CONS:

built-in mic = defunct

relatively loud w/overworked & underachieving fan (fix: google aa1 fan)

gets hot like breakers get down, but for its size you can’t blame it

made in china. china? china. almost puts a hp dv6000 to shame. this cost less than half that even after a 150.00 rebate. this is the year of the acer as the recession continues to bone us.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Exactly what I needed
Let me start by saying that you should make sure a netbook is right for you before you make this purchase. Once you’ve decided to go with a netbook over a notebook–this one is perfect!

From the ones I tried out in the big box stores, Acer has the biggest keyboard unless you go with a solid state hard drive. That being said, the keyboard will take a day or two to get used to–but it happens fast.

The battery life is between 2-3 hours. The power cord is small enough that it is easy to pack along with you, if you need to.

Built-in wireless card has no problems picking up signals.

All-in-all, this netbook is exactly what I needed. And it’s the same size as a normal hardback book, so it’s very easy to take anywhere. I would defiantly recommend it
